A proud Southfield resident for more than 12 years and am passionate about continues to be a dynamic and thriving mainstay. While actively involved and desire arose to participate in a larger conversation and help with the decision-making process; therefore, I am announcing my candidacy to serve on the Southfield City Council.
Tina holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication, a Master’s in Education Leadership and Policy Studies, enhanced by a K-12 Administrators Certificate from Wayne State University and is currently pursuing an Education Specialist Certificate in Learning Design and Technology. She has worked in Higher Education for over 16 years. Having a passion for education and diversity, Tina’s professional portfolio encompasses a broad spectrum of expertise, management, and leadership experience, inclusive of charter school management, higher education, donor relations, project management, research, grant writing, and non-profit sector. Tina has traveled nationally as a speaker and lecturer. She demonstrates efficacy in her work ethics and is known for dealing with sensitive matters with transparency, clarity, diplomacy, and integrity.
In addition, Tina currently serve as Chair of Southfield Youth Assistance, a non-profit organization providing services that strengthen youth and families through community engagement, am a member of the Oakland County Democratic Party, a board member of the Dr. Joseph F. Pollack Academic Center of Excellence (PACE Academy), while actively involved in the Chamber of Commerce and Women Officials Network Foundation, a non-profit, non-partisan organization that supports and empowers women in leadership positions at all levels of government. She has dedicated her life to engaging and serving communities to positively impact the lives of our youth in Wayne and Oakland County.
Recognized for her commitment and mentorship with youth, she has received the Spirit of Detroit Award from Detroit City Council. Tina is the President and Founder of Young Ladies of Distinction and Purpose (YLDP) a mentorship program dedicated to building character, self-esteem, social graces, career development and civic responsibility.
On a more personal note Tina is the very proud mother of two adult children La’Tina, and David, and three grandchildren Anthony, Corey and Landon. Tina realizes that these priceless relationships are a gift and another way to ensure a legacy that demonstrates unconditional love to the next generation and beyond.
